Upper Sycamore Canyon Trail trailhead. The haze is glare on the camera lens from the sun, not smoke!

The bridge at the bottom of the blacktop hill has seen a little of the fire
![SAM_1032.jpg](tn_SAM_1032_jpg.jpg) |
The surface of the bridge is a little charred

Hitting the dirt!
![SAM_1037.jpg](tn_SAM_1037_jpg.jpg) |
This branch over the trail was weakened by the fire and had to be removed

Cutting it into pieces that were small enough to drag off the trail

This tree had more serious damage

A small 'ash ghost' - the remains of a fallen tree or branch that has been completely consumed by the fire
![SAM_1049.jpg](tn_SAM_1049_jpg.jpg) |
Yet another fallen tree needs to be removed from the trail
![SAM_1053.jpg](tn_SAM_1053_jpg.jpg) |
The tree was too big to cut up so we rerouted the trail around it. It's very dusty work!
![SAM_1054.jpg](tn_SAM_1054_jpg.jpg) |
At this point we were worried that all the trees had fallen across the trail, but only the lower 20% of the trail was affected this way.
![SAM_1055.jpg](tn_SAM_1055_jpg.jpg) |
We had to clear a lot of chaparral that had fallen across the trail
![SAM_1056.jpg](tn_SAM_1056_jpg.jpg) |
A much larger 'ash ghost'
![SAM_1057.jpg](tn_SAM_1057_jpg.jpg) |
There were 'ash ghosts' everywhere :-(

A sprig of new growth in this scorched landscape!
